Biography
George Franklin was born in 1885 and died in 1978. He was the son of John Frederick Barthel and Ursula Schwanz. [1]
He was a minister of the gospel, serving Evangelical Churches in Waukomis, Oklahoma (1906-1907), Dover, Oklahoma (1907-1911), Leavenworth, Kansas (1911-1916), Kansas City, Missouri (Park Avenue Church, 1916-1920), Holton, Kansas (1920-1927), Kitchener, Ontario (Zion Church, 1927-1934 and Calvary Memorial Church, 1934-1942) and Waterloo, Ontario (Emmanuel Church, 1942-1953). After he was superannuated in 1953, he returned to Zion Church as Assistant (1953-1964) and Minister Emeritus (1964-1978). During his ministry the Evangelical Church merged as part of the Evangelical United Brethren Church, which later became part of the United Church of Canada. [2]
