Biography

Jehojada Bartlett was born November 2, 1675 in Windsor, Hartford, CT to Benjamin and Deborah (Barnard) Bartlett. Jehojada married Sarah Morgan on December 29, 1704 in Springfield, Massachusetts. Their children are: Sarah (1706), Jonathan (1711), Miriam (1714) and Asa (1721). All children were born in Springfield, Massachusetts. Jehojada died on February 7, 1755 in Springfield, Massachusetts.

Jehojadah was given 10 acres of additional property as a land grant in 1718 (land owner prior to this date). Massachusetts Land Records, 1620-1986: According to the meeting by a committee formed around February 19, 1718/19. Land described as: "Tract of land out on Easterly side of Great River on a hill at the end of a meadow (Page 25, Image 73), proposed that Jehojada Bartlet have some addition of land (Image 74). Voted, granted and allowed that Jehojada Bartlett have 10 acres. Land grant for 10 years. Land could possibly be located in Longmeadow today. Jehojada's son Jonathan later relocated to the Ludlow, MA.

Jehojada is mentioned in the North America, Family Histories, 1500-2000 - Life of George Dewey, Rear Admiral, U S N , and Dewey family history, as the father-in-law to Hannah Dewey who married his son Jonathan born in 1711 in Springfield, MA.

Johojada is mentioned in A Genealogy of the Descendants of Joseph Bartlett of Newton, Mass. for Seven Generations, under the 3rd Generation, pages 20 and 21. Jehojada a/k/a Jehoida's neice Mary Bartlett married Thomas Bartlett who was the daughter of Benjamin and Mary Bartlett. Benjamin was the brother of "Jehoida" and a new comer to Brookfield (Worchester County), MA. They were the sons of Benjamin and Deborah (Barnard) of Windsor, CT.

Jehojada is mentioned in Colonial Justice in Western Massachusetts, 1639-1702; The Pynchon Court Record, an Original Judges' Diary of the Administration of Justice in the Springfield Courts in the Massachusetts Bay Colony, Page 346, dated February 28, 1695/6, as a witness and testimony (with his brother Ephraim) against William Anthony for lying and cursing. https://archive.org/details/colonialjusticei00unse/page/346/mode/2up?q=Bartlett

Ancestry and Family Search have Jehojada death date as February 7, 1755 in Springfield, Massachusetts. Ancestry record: Massachusetts, Town and Vital Records, 1620-1988, Name Jehojada Bartlet Event Type Death Death Date 7 Feb 1755 Death Place Springfield, Massachusetts.
