John was the second of five children of Franklin and Audrey Sturchler Barlett.[1]The family had moved back to Chamberlain, South Dakota by the time John was 13.[2]
John was a math instructor at Pasadena City College for 33 years, retiring in 1992. He and his wife have four children.[3]
John died in Pasadena, California at age 74[4][5]and is buried in Riverview Cemetery, Chamberlain, South Dakota.[6]
