Abigail Bartlett was born in about 1782, the daughter of Jacob Bartlett and Hannah Sargent. Note that the Balch Genealogy referenced below is incorrect with respect to her parentage (the Jacob Bartlett mentioned therein is actually her brother). Abigail's year of birth is determined from her gravestone, which gives her age at 67 at her death in 1849.
On 2 June 1816, Abigail joined the East Bradford church.[1]
Abigail married Samuel Balch in Bradford, MA. on 6 July 1821.[2] [3] It was Samuel's third marriage, having been widowed twice. Samuel and Abigail had three children, born in Portsmouth, NH.
Note that Samuel was recorded on the 1830 census in Portsmouth, NH. After 1830, the family evidently moved to Rowley (in the area separated as Georgetown, MA in 1838) since the Portsmouth births of Eunice and Samuel were subsequently also recorded on the Rowley records.
Abigail passed away in Georgetown, MA on 29 May 1849, at age 67.[4] She was buried in Union Cemetery in Georgetown, MA.[5]
