Biography

Pitsy was born about 1844. She was the daughter of Aron Bass and Malenda Wooton. She passed away in 1927.

In 1870, Jesse Ladd, (the name is spelled Ludd), a 22 year old farmer b. Tennessee, lived in District 10, Sullivan, Tennessee, with five others named "Ludd": Pitsey, 26 b. North Carolina; Aaron F. (Fouch, 12; W. F. (Fouch), 10; Anna D., 5; and Ellen J. M., 5/12, b. December. All four children were born in Tennessee.[1]

In 1880, Jesse Ladd, a 33 year old married farmer b. TN, lived with his wife Pitsy, 37 b. North Carolina, and 7 children b. TN: Ann, 13; Ellen R., 10; William P., 9; Sarah C., 7; John R., 4; Elizabeth Lynn, 0; and Nancy A., 5.[2]

On the 1900 US Census for Civil District 10, Sullivan, Tennessee, United States, Pitsy Ladd, a 59 year old widow, said she was a farmer, born in North Carolina in March 1841. She had had 10 children, of whom 9 were still living. Two sons, farm laborers, were living with her: J. Reuben Ladd, 24 years old b. March 1876 in TN; and G. Jarvis Ladd, 15 years old b. TN Oct. 1884. The sons' father was born in Arkansas.[3]

In 1910, Pitsy Ludd, a 69 year old widow b. North Carolina, was living in the 10th civil District, Sullivan, Tennessee, with son Woodard L. Fouch, a 49 year old farmer b. Virginia. Pitsy has had 10 children, 8 of whom are living, [4]
