Biography

Rebecca Bassett was born in about 1668 in Lynn, Essex, Massachusetts Bay. She was the daughter of William Bassett and Sarah (___)_.^[1]

She was still living and unmarried in February 1701/2, when she is identified as "Rebecca Bassett" in her father's will.^[1]

According to Anderson, no further record of her exists after the reference to her in William's will in 1701/2.^[1]

Research Notes

Some claim without source that she married as his first wife Ephraim Silsbee/Sillsbee, son of Henry & Dorothy (Unknown) Silsbee/Sillsbee in Essex, MA Bay, and that she died before he remarried to her sister Rachel in 1693/4.^[2] This is clearly incorrect, as she is identified as "Rebecca Bassett" in February 1701/2 in her father's will.
