6 Aug 1335: "Mandate to archbishops, bishops, abbots, priors, earls, barons, knights, mayors, bailiffs, ministers, commonalties and all others in the counties of Gloucester, Worcester, Hereford, Salop, and Stafford, by the fealty, homage and love which they owe to the king, to treat diligently and carefully with Ralph Basset of Drayton, who is coming from the king to concert with them measures for the defence of the realm against hostile invasion, now credibly reported to be imminent, and to inform them of the result of the deliberation of the king's council at York in this behalf." [2]
