John Benjamin Bastin was born 1797, in Rockingham county, North Carolina, a son of William Barton Bastin and Deborah (Cook) Bastin. John married Sarah Ann "Sally" Reed and they became the parents of William Benjamin Bastin, Henry Bastin, Deborah Bastin, Green Bastin, Benjamin Barton Bastin, Edmond Bastin, James Bastin, and Godfrey Bastin.
John died November 28, 1871, in Mount Olive, Casey county, Kentucky and is buried in the Salyers Cemetery, on Highway 837. [1]
