Disputed Origins

She was not the daughter of Rev. Stephen Bachelir. He had no daughter by that name.[citation needed]

Biography

Elizabeth was born between 1581 and 1587 in Ticehurst, Sussex, or Devon, Dorset, England.[1][2][3]

She married 22 January 1615 (in Bridport, England) Henry Way.[4] David Greene's 1985 TAG article: really draws into question Elizabeth *Batchelar* as wife of the immigrant-- at least the one who comes with him. This article publishes the Bridport parish records which does include a 1615 marriage between one Henry Way and one Elizabeth Batchelar BUT there is also a 1618 burial of Elizabeth, wife of Henry Way.[5]

22 Jan 1614 / 1615 Henry Way to Elizabeth Batchelar at Bridport, Dorset [6]

Elizabeth, wife of Henry Way, was buried in 1618.[7]

Anderson did not identify the birth or parentage for the wife of Henry Way--Gene

"Are there any sources to prove the parentage on this profile? Have yet to find anything that connects Elizabeth to Henry and Ann (Bate)"

Her bio is confusing - why are children with a "second wife" shown here? It appears that Elizabeth Bachiler was Henry's second wife. The children listed here should be hers, not the children of Henry's other wife; or is there uncertainty whether the two Elizabeths were actually the same person?

What is the source for her parents here, please?

The Elizabeth who married Henry Way and died in 1665 in Dorchester, MA was NOT the daughter of Rev. Stephen Bachiler. See Robert Charles Anderson Great Migration Begins, entry for Stephen Bachiler for his documented list of children.
