Biography

Elizabeth Bateman married Henry Lyon "by 1653" according to Torrey.[1] She was the daughter of William Bateman of Fairfield, CT, who named Henry Lyon as son-in-law in his will.[2]

After Elizabeth's death abt. 1688, Henry re-married to Mary Canfield. Mary is the wife named in Henry Lyon's will of Feb 1701/2. His will also refers to two children born to this second wife Mary. [3]

Note: Her birth date, place and exact date of marriage are based on "Family Data Collection" which may be unreliable. WikiTree advises against citing it as a source (likewise Millenium File).

She was born about 1631 in Charlestown, Massachusetts [4] and her parents were Frances and William Bateman.

Elizabeth Mary Bateman married on 04 May 1652 in Fairfield, Connecticut to Henry Lyon [5] [6] (1621-1707).

Elizabeth and Henry Lyon had at least eight children: Thomas, Mary, Samuel, Joseph, Nathaniel, John, Benjamin and Ebenezer. [7]

This is not a living person, but someone born in the 1600s. This profile should not be set as PRIVATE. Probably this happened when an email address was accidentally added to the profile.

Could one of the profile managers please fix this?????

My notes indicate that she was born in England, but I will concede that she COULD have been born in the Mass Bay Colony. (Certainly not Fairfield, Conn). I haven't found enough to tell when her father came to Mass Bay Colony.

Another educated guess for her place of birth would be England. Both of William Bateman's wives are listed as dead in 1631 - about the time that William arrived in Massachusetts Bay Colony where he first lived in Watertown. I just looked at The Great Migration Begins entry for William Bateman. It says that he arrived with two or three children. I cannot now remember whether it said word one about his wives; I suspect that it said nothing since that was what I was looking for.
An educated guess as to Elizabeth's place of birth would be Charleston, MA, as that is where her father landed in 1631.
Fairfield, Connecticut was not founded until 1639. Therefore this person was not born there in 1632.
Bateman-833 and Bateman-48 appear to represent the same person because: Although the place of birth does not match, these appear to be the same person.

Bateman-48 and Bateman-750 appear to represent the same person because: Slightly diff (diff Moms) someone will have to clarify that but the rest appears to represent the same person so the profiles should be merged.
This person looks like the same person as Bateman-48; same brothers, sister and father, same husband, two mothers pretty much unknown. Should someone propose a merge?
