Biography

Julius R. Bates was born November 23, 1804 in Greenville, South Carolina. He is the son of Elias Bates and Margaret Roberts.

He married Lydia Hulsey February 25, 1825 in Hall, Georgia. Their children were:

  3. Thomas Kimsey Bates
  4. Mary Adaline Bates
  5. Jane Emaline Bates
  6. Julius R. Bates, Jr.
  7. Lother Hulsey Bates
  8. Benson Robert Bates

He died, at the age of 74, onMay 15, 1879 in Centre, Alabama. He is buried at the Bates Cemetery, Cherokee County, Alabama.[1]
