Research Notes

Questioned Parents

No primary sources have been located to document Susanna as daughter of John Bates and Elizabeth Unknown. Many secondary sources, family histories, etc., include Susanna as part of their family. However, Susanna is not included in the will of John Bates. Jester, Adventurers of Purse and Person, includes only four children of John Bates.[4] Shirley Dalton 18:46, 14 January 2022 (UTC)

Identity Unproven

Identity of the wife of Stephen Tarleton is unproven. No primary source so far found by me or cited in other online family trees gives the name of his wife. All secondary sources located for Tarleton only give information regarding him, sometimes mentioning he was married to Susanna Bates. He left no will that has been found; no marriage record located. If anyone has a primary source document proving the marriage of Tarleton and Susanna Bates, please cite it on this profile. Shirley Dalton 18:46, 14 January 2022 (UTC)

Research still needs to be done to see if any primary sources can be located. Shirley Dalton 18:46, 14 January 2022 (UTC)

Hi, Do you have a confirming source that names her parents? The father to whom she is attached left a will, naming his children, but no Susanna was among them.

Thanks
