One possible concern with this file is Find A Grave lists Isaac as b. 1728 and DEATH 24 Nov 1786 https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/6202992/isaac-bates Isaac's wife is listed as Jemima Carter Bates b. May 1742 Killingworth, Middlesex County, Connecticut, and d.8 Mar 1813 Are we talking about two different Isaac Bates?
The above list of children and wives is from the docs at New England Ancestry
Isaac is the Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution Ancestor #A007444. There is some lack of documentation with the applications filed by the descendants of his son, Isaac Bates, who married Mehitable Pratt, however Isaac does appear on the roster of soldiers. [1]
DAR records indicate that Isaac's wife was Temperance Kirkland. Isaac Bates and Temperance Kirkland were married July 8, 1762, in Saybrook, Connecticut. [2] Their son, Isaac, was born July 30, 1765, in Old Saybrook. [3]

I believe the Isaac Bates who married Temperance Kirtland 8 Jul 1762 in Saybrook is the Isaac, age 73, who died 27 Aug 1807 in Saybrook "sudden by falling from load of hay." Temperance Bates died in Saybrook 25 Jan 1790, age 47, of consumption. The Saybrook land records only list 2 children for them: Temperance b. 14 May 1763 and Isaac b. 30 Jul 1765.
I do not see an Isaac Bates with a death date of 4 Jan 1804 in the published Saybrook vital records.
