Emily BATES, daughter of Joseph BATES (1815-1862) and Jane Donkin PLANT (1816-1878), was born on 18 February 1859 in Dresden, Staffordshire, England.(*1) She was christened on 21 August 1859 in Blurton Redpath, Staffordshire, England. She appeared in the census on 7 April 1861 in Villiers Street, Dresden, Staffordshire, England.(*2) In 1871 she was a Potter.(*3) She appeared in the census on 2 April 1871 in Villiers Street.(*3) Listed as Emma Bates. Living with her siblings and their widowed mother. Emily married Alfred Herbert DAVIS on 3 August 1879 in The Church of the Resurrection, Dresden, Staffordshire, England.(*4) Emily's sister Ann Jane Coates and her brother in law Frederick Coates were the witnesses. Samuel Salt conducted the ceremony.
