John Bates was born on 29 Nov. 1785[1] possibly in Rhode Island.
He married Jane Quick, daughter of James Quick and Hannah Pelton.[1][2][3]
He was a farmer when he and Jane appeared on the census of 12 Sep. 1850 at Colley, Sullivan County, Pennsylvania.[4] He and Jane appeared on the census of 25 June 1860 at Wilmot Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.[5]
John died on 29 March 1864 and was buried at Quicks Bend Cemetery, Wilmot Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania. His memorial has a photo of his headstone and links to those of family members.[1]
