I can find not proof that Bates-40 had a child named William. I propose merging this William Bates-1444 with William Batte-22. I don't want to initiate the merge but prefer that managers of William Batte do so because of PP.

I will remove siblings that actually belong to Bates-40 and Elizabeth Unknown.

Does this work for you?

I think I adopted this profile early in my Bates quest as Travis Wagner and Regina DeMarco were no longer active. I apologize for not getting back to it. Thanks for pointing out the (now obvious) errors!

"My" John Bates born 1598 had turned out to be my brick wall. No proof of his parents although Mary Martine is still popping up as his mother.

I'll remove the inaccurate spouse, etc.

This William is not the husband of Elizabeth Horton or of Susannah Aston.

|William Batte is their husband. William and Susan had no known issue.. William and Elizabeth Horton had William, John, Gledhill, Elizabeth, Judith and Martha, in England since William returned there about the time of his second marriage.

John Bates, father of this William, is different than Capt. John Batte, father of William Batte.

Vol III, page, page 123, Magna Carta Ancestry, under William's father Capt. John Batte, it shows that Oakwell is at Birstall, Yorkshire. I think they all agree.

The William who married Susan Aston (William Batte Esq, Batte-22) is a different William from the brother of George Bates etc. So.... I propose removing wife Susan and children (of William Batte & next wife Elizabeth Horton) from this profile. S'ok by you?
