John Henry Baughman (Bachman) was born near Hanover, (Prussia) Germany.
Ther he was educated, reared, married, and where he served for several years
in the German Army. Desiring to better his condition and to make a home for
his growing family, he migrated to the United States in the fall of 1832.
They landed in Baltimore, Maryland, then lived in Virginia for a while, then
pressed on to Richland Township, Drake County, Ohio. They purchased land at
first on the site of Roger Warrick's farm (at the time it was Richland Twp.)
Then moved onward to other parts of Brown Towship.
Mrs. Barughman died about 1858, and Mr John H. died at the home of his son,
in Sept. 1875 at the age of eighty-eight.
