Biography

Olive Carroline Baxter was born on 21 July 1892[1] at Masonville, Delaware Co., New York.[2] She appeared on the census of 28 June 1900 in the household of her parents, Hiram L. Baxter and Fannie Eliza (Wheeler) Baxter, at Masonville, Delaware Co., New York.[3] She appeared on the census of 5 May 1910 in the household of her parents at Masonville, Delaware Co., New York.[4]

She was a witness when her sister, Alice, married Harold Foster Mills, son of John W. Mills and Lettie (Hoyt) Mills, on 16 Jun 1917 at Sidney, Delaware County, New York.[5]

She was living in Masonville, Delaware Co., New York and working as a school teacher when she and Harvey P. Shoemaker filed a marriage license on 25 Aug. 1925 at Masonville, Delaware Co., New York. She married Harvey P. Shoemaker, son of Artimas Shoemaker and Martha (Purcell) Shoemaker, on 25 Aug. 1925 at Sidney Center, Delaware Co., New York. [6]

She and Harvey appeared on the census of 12 April 1930 at Lexington, Greene Co., New York.[7] She and Harvey appeared on the census of 19 April 1940 at Lexington, Greene Co., New York. They had one son, Roger Shoemaker born in 1934 living with them.[8]

She and Harvey were in attendance when Marshall Forrest was the host of the Baxter Family Reunion held on 19 Aug . 1951 near Coventry, New York. She and Harvey were in attendance when Henry S. Schaefer and Ethel M. Baxter were hosts of the Tenth annual reunion of the descendants of Nathan Baxter Jr. and his wife Anna Dodge, held at their home on 18 Aug. 1957 at East Branch, Delaware Co., New York.

In 1980 Olive lived in Cedar Knolls, Morris Co., New Jersey. She died in July of 1981, probably in Cedar Knolls.[1]
