According to Casey's compilation (cited below): "[Thomas Seale's] first wife was Rachel Baxter who was a sister to Col. Baxter who died fighting with Col. Marion's Rough Riders during the revolutionary war, in Georgia. She was probably the daughter of Eli Baxter who is shown in Wilkes County, Ga. records which may account for her naming her son Eli." (pg. 498)
According to Casey's compilation (cited below): "Some claim she was a niece of [Thomas's] first wife, others, that she was not related to her." (pg. 498)[5]
