When John Baxter was born on December 28, 1726, in Wethersfield, Connecticut, his father, William, was 20 and his mother, Sarah, was 24. He married Ruth Abigail Taylor in 1754 in Connecticut. He died on November 15, 1814, in Sandisfield, Massachusetts, having lived a long life of 87 years.
