Biography

Harriet was born in 1901 in Seattle, King County, Washington, United States[1]. She died in 1937[2] and is buried in the Evergreen-Washelli Memorial Park in Seattle[3].

Obituary
"Mrs. Harriet M. McCORD, socially prominent wife of Evan S. McCord,Seattle attorney, was found dead in the basement of her home at 1658 Federal Ave., last night. She had hanged herself, apparently indespondency over ill-health, Coroner Otto H. Mittelstadt reported.
The body was discovered by the husband and Dr. D. A. Nicholson, a longtime friend of the family.
Mrs. McCord, who was 36 years old, had come in from the family's summer home on Bainbridge Island yesterday morning and spent most of the day with her mother, Mrs. Rollin Sanford of The Highlands. About 3 o'clock she telephoned servants in her Bainbridge Island home, [telling them] she would spend the night in the city. Her husband, in Bellingham on business, became alarmed when he was unable to reach her by telephone and hurried back, summoning Dr. Nicholson from his nearby home to aid him in searching for his wife.
Mrs. McCord, the former Harriet May Baxter, was a granddaughter of the late Gov. John H. McGraw and daughter of F. H. Baxter. She was active in the Junior League and was a member of the Sunset Club.
Surviving are a daughter, Harriet May, 13, and a son, Evan S. McCord,Jr., 9.
The body is at Bonney-Watson's."
