Johann Christoph BAYER /PAYER /LEPAILLEUR, fils de Johann Martin BAYER et Anna-Maria GLUCK, est né le 20 janvier 1756 et baptisé le 25 à Ruckingen (église luthérienne), Allemagne.

Il arrive au Canada en 1776 en tant que soldat des troupes du Hesse-Hanau, (compagnie de Von Gall). Il est également joueur de hautbois. [2]

Il épouse Marie Madeleine GENDREAU dit JEANDREAU le 24 juillet 1786 à Québec (Metropolitan Anglican Church). [3] Leurs enfants connus sont:

Il décède 2 mois après son épouse, le 30 novembre 1838, et est inhumé à l'église anglicane St-Peter de Québec le 03 décembre 1838. [5]

  • "Dans son testament en date du 8 janvier 1824... Christophe demande à être enterré dans le cimetière des protestants en la ville de Québec" [7]

Biography

I found handwritten information on the Geneology written by Bernard S Payeur of Island Pond, Vermont. Sent that to everyone. It follows. His great, great, great grandfather Christopher Payeur arrived in Canada from Germany (Also our ancestor) in 1757. A farmer, he was the first Payeur on the continent. He settled on a farm the Canadian government was offering to settlers, near the present town of St. Giles, east of the St Lawrence River. He married a Canadian Catholic girl by the name of Madeline Gendron (date unknown) They had 11 children. One of them was Louis Payeur, born at St Nicholas 4/9/1790 He married Marguerite Demers 7/30/11. They had 14 children. He married again to Siajie Aubin and had 9 more children for a total of 23. One of the 14 Joachim (birthdate unknown) married at St Sylvestor, Quebec 4/5/1853 to Marie LeJinne. They had 11 children One was Louis J Payeur, born 7/26/1855 in Brockton, Quebec. He married Bridget Fortier (born 4/19/1859) on 4/19/1879, They had 7 children ( One was our grandfather Theodore J Payeur, born 1/23/1880 in Island Pond, Essex County, Vermont. He died 1/14/1959 in Hartford Connecticut. Per my mother, Grampa Payeur was in one of the blacksmith shop pictures.

When Christopher Payeur was born on January 20, 1756, in Hanau, Hesse, Germany, his father, Johann, was 71 and his mother, Anna, was 31. He married Marie-Madeleine Gendreau on July 24, 1786, in St-Gilles, Quebec, Canada. They had one child during their marriage. He died on November 13, 1838, in St-Gilles, Quebec, Canada, having lived a long life of 82 years.
