Asa Bayless and Delilse (Deliah) Good obtained a marriage license on 26 Feb 1840 and were married by his father, Reuben Bayless, minister of the gospel, on 29 Feb 1840 in Washington County, Tennessee.[1][2][3][4] The couple had ten children:
(1850) Washington County, Tennessee. As head of household, Asa "Bailey" (farmer)(36) is found living with wife, Delila (33), six children, Nancy J (9), Elizabeth (8), Asa (6), Manerva A. (5), Zachariah T (3), and Mary (Manerva) (2). Also living with the family was Asa's brother, Ruben M Bayless (26), and Ebenezer Scruggs (laborer) (21). All are noted to have been born in Tennessee.[9](1860) District 3, Washington County, Tennessee. Asa Bayles (farmer)(46) as head of household with Delila (43), Elizabeth, Asa A., Manerva A., Zach T., Amanda M., Sarah A., John S.M., Mary E., and William D. Bayless. Also living with the family were James Mitchell (18), Aden Mitchell (16), Henry Mitchell (14), and Thomas Pearson (18). [10](1870) District 4, Greene County, Tennessee. As head of household, Asa Bayles (farmer) (56) with wife, Delila (54), children, Asa A. (26), Dilla (24), Zachariah (23), Amanda M. (21), Sallie (19), John L.M. (17), Mary E. (15), and William D. Bayles (13), all born in Tennessee. Living with the family was Philip Roan, (20) a farm laborer of Mississippi. [11](1880) 2nd Civil District, Hamblen County, Tennessee. As head of household, Asa Bayless (farmer)(66) with wife, Delila (64), children, Asa A. (37), Sarah (27), Mary E. (23), and William (21). Also living with them was grandson W. Critenden Bayless (9) of Tennessee, and Sina McKinney (22) of South Carolina. It was stated that Asa's father was born in Tennessee, but there was no response to where his mother was born.[12]
Death and Burial
Asa passed away in Morristown, Hamblen, Tennessee on 27 Jan 1893 and is buried at St. Paul Presbyterian Cemetery in Morristown, Tennessee. His FAG profile states that he was born on 13 Dec 1813 in Washington County, Tennessee. [13]
