Biography

Olive was born in 1776 at Beals Island. She was the daughter of Manwarren Beal Jr. and Lydia Welch. She was the "first white girl born there," at Barney's Point where her father became the first settler of the island. Beals Island is part of a larger area known as Moosebecca Reach. Olive married Joseph Kelley [the first white male born on the mainland at Kelleys Point in Jonesport] (both of Moosepeaky Reach) 29 Jan 1802. [1] [2] [3] She passed away at Kelleys Point in Jonesport in 1851 and was buried at Barnabus C. Kelley Cemetery in Jonesort, Maine. [4] [5] [6]
