Biography

Birth

Torrey reports that William was in Marblehead in 1679 in his 49th year. This means he was still 48 at that time , so he was probably born about 1631.

Marriage #1

William married Martha? before 1654 in Salisbury. [1] This presumably refers to his marriage to Martha Bradstreet.

[Bradstreet-155|Martha]], and her husband, William Beal, brought a slander suit against George and Rebecca Bonfield (Rebecca's sister) and their children in the Essex Court during 1672-74. The suit was dropped[2]

Marriage #2

William Beale's marriage to the widow of Samuel Hart is mentioned as well as listing his children. [3]

William, Sr. and Mary Hart married on 5 March 1684 in Marblehead, Essex, Massachusetts.[4]

Note that in the Marblehead marriage record, Mary Hart, mentioned above is incorrectly listed as daughter of Samuel Hart of Lynn. She was his widow, Mary (Whitridge) Hart, as shown elsewhere.[4]

William was born in 1632. William Beale ... He passed away in 1694. [5]

William Beale of Marblehead (son of John and Margaret).

Marriage to Martha Bradstreet 1654 Age: 34 [no source, likely incorrect.] Marblehead, Essex, Massachusetts, USA Samuel Beale (1654, married Patience Lovewell), Martha Beale (1657), James Beale (1659), William Beale (1662), John Beale (1666), Moses Beale (1667), Moses Beale (1670), Bridget Beale (1672), and Aaron Beale (1675, married Elizabeth Nicholson). George Beale (1670), Anna Beale (1674)

Marriage to Elizabeth Pilkenton (Widow of Edmund Jackson) 1676 16 Dec Age: 56 Marblehead, Essex, Massachusetts, USA Ebenezer Beale (1679) and Elizabeth Beale (1677) She was nee Pilkenton the Widow of Ed Jackson

Marriage

Third marriage: Spouse: Mary Hart.
1684. [6], HARTT (see also Hart), Mary, wid., and William Beale, Mar. 5, 1684. [7]
BEALE (see also Beall), William, and wid, Mary Hartt, Mar. 5, 1684. [8]
Note: Mary Needham was the 1st wife of Samuel Hart; Mary Needham died in 1671. Samuel's 2nd wife was Mary Witteridge. [9] Mary Witteridge was Samuel's widow and became William's 3rd wife.

Marriage to Mary Needham (widow of Samuel Hart) 1683 4 Mar Age: 62 Lynn, Essex, Massachusetts, USA and Thomas Beale (1686). Mary nee Needham was the widow of Samuel Hart.

Death

1694 4 Jan Age: 73 Marblehead, Essex, Massachusetts, USA [citation needed]

Note: If he died at age 73, then 1694 - 73 = 1621 birth date, not 1632. However, I suspect the age at death, 73, is incorrect.

Note birth date shown is baptism date of WIlliam Beale born in Kent, England to John Beale. He died in Marblehead on 04 Jan 1694. [citation needed]

Note: He wrote his will on that date but I know of no source that says he died on that date. His will was proved on May 21, 1694. [10] The exact date is probably unknown. The town records simply say he died in 1694. [11]

Children

Based on updated birth an marriage information I have moved some of the children from Elizabeth to Martha compared to some sources.

I do not believe that Susanna was his daughter. I believe she was the daughter of William Sr's son William Jr. She married in Dunstable and William Sr was not in Dunstable but William Jr had all his children there.

Beale-567 and Beale-175 appear to represent the same person because: Beale-175 was born about the time of Beale-567, and they share the same wife. Beale-567 died in 1694 and that is well sourced. He lived in Marblehead. A number of books list one of his three wives as Martha Bradstreet. These two profiles should be merged and then work on his parent problem (Beale-567 lists a father who allegedly died 12 years before William was born). The merge will prevent people from building massive families around each of them. If, on the other hand, you are convinced of the 5 November 1684 death date for Beale-175, then he is truly a different person, and you should remove Martha Bradstreet as his wife.

The Essex Antiquarian Volume 7, 1903, p.184 has a nice bio and list of relationships for William.

His last child, Thomas, b. 1686 would have been the son of Mary (Witteridge) Hart, the last spouse of William.

Thanks

Removing him from Edward Beals and Martha Stone as parents. As I indicated in comment on 8 March 2016, the source cited does not show any parents for this man, and sources for Edward and Martha do not show any son named William who survived childhood.

I can't find anything in the change history to indicate the basis for connecting this profile to Edward Beal(es) and Martha Stone as parents. The source cited takes the genealogy back to William and Martha (not to William's parents).

Beale-637 and Beale-567 appear to represent the same person because: This souce shows this is the same person. William Beale of Marblehead (son of John and Margaret) married Martha Bradstreet.

I found baptism record 26 Nov 1620 - Kent, England to John. Death in Marblehead 04 Jan 1694.

Beale-175 and Beale-567 are not ready to be merged because: They have different fathers. What should we do about that?
