Fielder Beall estimates that Thomas Beall, son of Ninian the Immigrant was born in Calvert County about 1682. ^[4]

1707 Will and Death

Thomas apparently intended to travel to England in the fall of 1707 and set his affairs in order by writing a will. His Will 1 Sept 1707 - 7 Aug 1708 gives to brothers John and George personalty; brother Ninian administrator. ^[7][5].

The preface to Thomas' will states Whereas it doth please God by his providence to cause me to leave the place and land of my nativity and intending, God willing to leave for England if the Almighty spares me, if not then to

• brother John my working tools",
• to brother George, negro James;
• brother Ninian sole executer. </i>

Heterick ^[5] cites this will to prove Thomas was born in Scotland, "land of my nativity", versus the clear sense that the occasion for the will, recorded at Annapolis, MD, was a planned trip to England, the starting place for which was his land of nativity, Maryland.

8 August 1708, Ninian Beall and Thomas Evans were administrators of Thomas Beall. Thomas Sprigg and Edward Willett, sureties. ^[5]

Research Notes

Disambiguation

Do not confuse this Thomas, clearly a son of Ninian, with an earlier Thomas. Parran ^[8] and some other writers show a Thomas and his brother John born in Scotland of an earlier wife of Col. Ninian Beall. Such a Thomas would be born around 1650 or earlier. Parran reports that Thomas as the husband of Elizabeth Bateman, and as the father of John. Lineages which Parran traces back to Thomas Beall of Ninian therefore actually trace back to Alexander Beall of Alexander.
