Biography

Asenath Beals was born in 1792. She is the daughter of Jacob Beals and Mary Horton. [1] The Beals (Jacob and Mary) were part of the original membership of Westfield, and the Burnsides (James and Mary) were part of the original membership in Deep Creek. [1]

Asenath married Asa Burnsides on Oct 1, 1810 in Surry, North Carolina. They had at least 7 children. [2]

In the 1850 Indiana Census Asa and Asenath are shown with their daughter, Anna Pennington, and family. Asa died in 1852. In the 1860 Census, Asenath is shown with her daughter, Lavina Moon, and family in Breckenridge, Kansas Territory. In 1870 she is shown with her son, Levi, in Pennington, Indiana.

The Bio of Asenath's son, Jacob, indicated that she was an "acceptable minister" of the Friends and traveled extensively preaching in a number of states. [3]

Asenath died on August 2, 1870 at 77 years old.[4] Her gravesite has not been determined but believed to be in Indiana,
