I am 100% certain that the following is the correct record of birth for Minnie Beals. Was "Mina" Minnie's proper birth name? I don't know for sure but I would guess that "Minnie" was a nickname given to her by friends or family. Her middle name? I don't know that for sure either. I always thought that Minnie's middle name began with an "L". Here....Minnie's middle name begins with an "I". An "L" wouldn't make sense. I think that "Idisa" probably was Minnie's proper middle name. Unfortunately, Minnie passed away in early childhood so there are very few records to compare this one to or family members that would know for certain.

I found yet another record of birth for Minnie (see scans 1 and 2). Scan no. 2 is a very good scan of the origianl document. Minnie is no. 72 here. At first the middle initial looks like an "L" made with not one but two loops towards the top (wouldn't mean much at first glance with nothing else to compare it to). But if you look at the name Ira Williams (no. 69) the "I" in Ira looks exactly the same as Minnie's middle initial. If you take some time and look at all of the other capitol "Ls" on the page they all look exactly the same also but without the second loop. The only two characters in the entire document that contain the "second loop" is Minnie's middle initial and the first letter in the name "Ira" (which are absolutely identical). Because of this, I am 100% convinced that Minnie's middle name did not beging with an "L" but rather an "I" and that her middle name was Idisa or something very close to it (perhaps Idissa). To me, these are the only two possibilities that exist.

Minnie was my Great Great Grandmother's daughter.
