The Hanging Rock, Lawrence County, Ohio, Census of 1880 lists Patrick Loder, 55 yrs, laborer, Ann, 42 yrs, Robert Beals, 21 yrs, Joseph, 15 yrs, James, 11 yrs, Lizza, 7 yrs, Hannah, 5 yrs. (all listed as step-sons and daughters) Patrick and Ann had a son, Michael J. Loder, 3 yrs, born in 1877.
James was married to Myrtie Haley on 15 Jun 1891.
At the 1900 Census, conducted on the 7 Jun 1900 in Ironton City, OH, James (31) is listed son-in-law to Celia Ward (49) , married to Missouri (28) and living with son Joseph Beals (age 10).
James married Missouri Ward in 1894, and at this time, his son Joseph, was 4 years old.
He was a widow at the time of his death and he died on 5 Sept 1935; his cause of death was listed as carcinoma of the stomach. He lived at 1402 S. 5th St., Ironton, OH. The informant of his death is listed as Mrs. Charles Frische of Ironton, OH. Bridget Frische was James half-sister.
He is the son of Isaac Beals and Ann Dolen. [1]
