"Lt Thomas Beman's death was recorded by Rev Bowman in his home church in CT, but it failed to mention that the death was in Ohio. It also listed death date as July 10. His death was announced in the Hartland Newspaper on July 24 and the Hartford paper on the 31st.
There is a question whether Thomas is actually buried in the unmarked grave next to his wife, or back in E. Hartland, CT. [See memorial 182318329]
DAR records, military records, and the listing in "Graves of Revolutionary Patriots" report he is buried next to his wife in Trumbull Co., OH. Turnbull history reports that his son Rufus brought his parents to Ohio about 1815, but 1820 census would indicate Thomas in Hartland. At his death, he still owned property in Connecticut and his wife filed his will there.
Upon Thomas's death, his wife returned to CT (or may have never left) to marry Gideon Perkins. When he died less than two years latter, she returned to Ohio to live with her children."
