Timeline with Research Notes

1790 Census: (16 Beaman households in NC) - There are 2 Abraham Beamans enumerated in this census. One lives in Rowan County with 3 males >16; 1 male <16; 2 females and 1 slave. The other lives in Duplin County with 2 males >16; 3 males <16 and 2 females.[1] Note of conjecture: This has not proven one way or the other whether or not the two enumerations represent the same family.

Other Beaman families enumerated in Rowan County were Jacob and John Beaman and the only other Beaman family in Duplin County in 1790 was Francis Beaman. It also must be noted that there is another Francis Beaman enumerated in Wayne County, but no Abraham there. Other Beamans in Wayne County at that time are: David, James, and Ozias Beaman as well as George Cato, who was the husband of Martha Beaman. It is probable that the Duplin County Francis was the son of Francis Beaman.

1800 Census: (27 Beaman households in NC) - In 1800 there were 3 households in NC headed by an Abraham Beaman. Two were in Johnston County and the other was in Gates County.[2] Note: The Johnston County Beamans are the family belonging to this Abraham Beaman. On page 765 Abraham is listed as >45 with a woman also >45 and a female lived with them who was between 10 and 15 years of age. The younger Johnston County Abraham is this man's son.

There were a total of 5 Beaman household in Johnston County, NC in 1800. Abraham Beaman, Sr., David Beaman <25 years old with only a female his age in his household; Isaac Beaman <25 years old with only a female his age in his household; Jacob Beaman and the other Abraham who was 26 to 44 years of age. His household had 2 boys <10 years of age, 1 male 16 to 25 and 2 females 16 to 25 years of age.

1810 Census:[3] In 1810, there were 6 households in the U.S. headed by an Abraham Beaman; however, only 2 of them were in North Carolina, the rest were from the Northeast. The two living in North Carolina lived in Montgomery County and are thought to be father and son. The older man was born prior to 1766 and had only a woman the same age living with him.
