Biography

Emily was born in the 1840's in the Choctaw Nation, Indian Territory, Oklahoma. She is listed in the 1855 Choctaw Census for Blue County, living with head of household James Beams. Census lists James Beams, Amy, Emily, Malissa, Lucy, Calvin, David, Josiah, Charles, and Sampson. Most of Blue County became Bryan County after Oklahoma statehood.

She died sometime between the time her daughter Cordelia was born (circa 1881) and the 1885 Choctaw Census. She is buried in southeastern Oklahoma, probably around the Durant or Bennington area.

Emily married 4 times:

1st husband: Charles Strickland (Chickasaw). They had one son Alfred Strickland (circa 1863 - Jan 1903) whose burial site is unknown. He was shot and killed by Robert Folsom near Bennington, as reported by the Durant Weekly News. Death date from a document in his Land Allotment packet. Alfred never married nor had children.

2nd husband: John Choate (1/2 blood Choctaw). They had a son David D Choate, born in 1867 in Oklahoma, died in 1942 in Oklahoma. Buried in Tate Mountain Cemetery in Seminole County, Oklahoma.

3rd husband: Charles Jones (1/2 blood Choctaw). They had a daughter Frances "Fannie" Jones, who married Elijah Fry and Alfred McClure.

4th husband: Benjamin Frazier (Chickasaw). They had 2 sons and 2 daughters:

a. Son Sidney Frazier, burial site unknown. He married Mollie Frazier (parents Osborne and Sophia Frazier.) Sidney and Mollie had a son named Ben, born about 1895 and died in 1900. Sidney married Ella Holley Bennett 11 Jan 1906, according to the Chickasaw Nation Marriages, Ardmore Courthouse. Sidney and Ella had a daughter named Jewel Opal, born 26 Nov 1906 in Oklahoma. She married Harry Burl Brown Sr on 29 Nov 1924 in Grayson County, Texas. Jewel died 5 Dec 1928 in Jackson County, Oklahoma and is buried at Altus Cemetery.

b. Son Ross Frazier, born in 1875 in Oklahoma, died, in 1935 in Bennington, Bryan County, Oklahoma. Buried at Bennington Cemetery, Bennington, Bryan County, Oklahoma.

c. Daughter Annie Frazier, born 18 Mar 1878 in Oklahoma. Annie married John L Aduddell. Annie died on 10 Oct 1899 in Scipio, Pittsburg County, Oklahoma. Buried at Hugh Low Cemetery, Pittsburg County, Oklahoma.

d. Daughter Cordelia Frazier, born in 1884 in Oklahoma. Cordelia married George Hawley about 1909. Cordelia died 7 Aug 1923 in Oklahoma. She is buried at North McAlester Cemetery, McAlester, Pittsburg County, Oklahoma.

Emily may be the daughter of William and Hettie Beams, instead of James and Amy, because she is not listed in James' will.
