Biography
George was born in 1823, the son of William Day Beard (1790-1831) and Elizabeth Izard.
Schooling:-
- BEARD, GEORGE CHANTLER. Adm. pens. at CORPUS CHRISTI, June 5, 1843, Of Sussex [S. of William B. 1823.] Matric. Michs. 1843; B.A. 1848. Died Aug. 11, 1865, at Christchurch, New Zealand. Brother of Charles Izard (1846) etc. (G. Mag., 1865, II. 796.) Also brother of William Day (1842) [1]
He was in Pisa, Italy for a while.
He married Ann Mackie (abt. 1834-1900) in New Zealand in 1853. [2]

He was buried in St. Peters Churchyard, Canterbury.
There is a plaque in St. Peter's, which reads:- "George Chantler BEARD, B.A., some years a church warden of this parish, d 11 August 1865 a 42."
