"Funeral Services for the remains of the late F. Jesse Beard were held at his late residence at 10 o'clock Friday morning. A large number of friends of the deceased gathered to do him the last honors. The funeral sermon was preached by his pastor Rev. George M. Hoke whose theme was The Remembrance of the Righteous with text from Psalm 112.

"F. Jesse Beard died at his home, No. 55 East main street, at 4:55 o'clock Tuesday evening. Mr. Beard fell from a ladder raised against an apple tree in the Shockey orchard east of town, Saturday, October [illegible]. He struck the ground with his head and right shoulder and was terribly injured. He was carried to his home ... " [remainder of article illegible].
