Augustine Bearse

Augustine Bearse was born June 3, 1704, married June 3, 1728, Bethia Linnell, daughter of John Linnell, she died Oct. 7th, 1743, aged 39, and he married Sept. 7, 1744, for his second wife. Thankful, widow of Nathaniel Bacon. He died June 2, 1751, aged 47, and his widow, Nov. 1774, aged 70.

Augustine was born ca. Jun 3, 1704. He was the son of Benjamin Bearse and Sarah Cobb.[1]

Augustine Bearse married:

1) Bethea Linnell, on June 3, 1728, Bethia, daughter of John Linnell, she died 7th Oct., 1743, aged 39.

2) Thankful, on Sept. 7, 1744, for his second wife. Thankful was widow of Nathaniel Bacon.

  • Lydia, 25th Dec, 1736;
  • Simeon, 27th June, 1739;

By Thankful:

  • Sarah bap'd March 9th, 1745-6, married Samuel Bearse Nov. 15, 1764;
  • Levi, bap'd Oct. 25, 1747.

Residence

Augustine Bearse married at Barnstable and moved to Hyannis with his second wife, after their marriage.

Occupation

Augustine Bearse Was engaged in whale fishery, and owned a try-works which were sold after his death.

Death

Augustine Bearse died June 2, 1751, aged 47, and his widow, Thankful died ca. Nov. 1774, aged 70..
