Biography

Named 3rd in Will of Solomon Beesley Sr. [1]

First name is uncertain. Identified in various places as Vilator, Vylator, Violetta, Velaire.

Valarie was born in about 1748 estimated using naming order in will, likely younger than Abraham and Solomon, Jr. She was the daughter of Solomon Beesley and Rachel Eda Taylor. Date of death may be as early ad 1795 or later, not certain. Undocumented sources say she was married had family and died in Barnwell County SC.

"The birth order of the children is uncertain, though clearly from the will Solomon had distinguished a group of older children, perhaps born to his first wife Rachel Taylor, from a group of younger children. The older children, named perhaps birth order, include Abraham, Solomon, “Vilator,” Ann, Martha, Mary, and possibly John, though he is also grouped with the younger children. Elizabeth Hall appears to be younger than her sisters. The other younger sons include William, Benjamin, James, and Samuel, with Samuel being under 21 in 1789." DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Vienna by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Vienna:

Susan,

We have Violator (Beasley) Dyess born about 1738 or 1748 because it is unknown. If anyone has verifiable evidence of Violator's birth and death, I would love to see it. Thanks

Violator has a birth date of 1738, yet the biography states 1748.

https://www.geni.com/people/Velaire-Dyess/6000000008153682328 shows 1749.

I have requested that Carolyn Dyess Bales take a look at it.

I see what you mean, Jan. Same name, but the dates of birth and death are quite different. It would be hard to make a case for a merger without further research.

(continued from previous note) The person who started the Solomon Beesley profile used that spelling for whatever reason. It was Solomon's son, John, Violator's brother who was known to use Beesley. There is no indication of what spelling Violator used for last name (certainly not for her first name) I would presume Beasley to be the choice. I have not had the time to make suggestions about changing the surname since only the "Trusted" person on the profile can do that. I hope you go ahead and approve the merger even with the spelling conflict.

Of course, spelling vary. As administrator of the Beasley One Name Study and bearer of the least common of the four primary variations, I make it a point to use the spelling that seemed to have been preferred by the particular family. Often that can't be determined. In the case of the line in question, the known Patriarch John Beasley, grandfather of your "Violator (Vienna)" is most commonly spelled Beasley. References to his home "Beasley Island" is most commonly spelled that way. That is true for most of his descendants as well. However, there is a grandson John Beesley whose descendants settled in Rutherford County TN clearly passed the Beesley spelling on. As you see, the proposed merger, shows the Beesley spelling because the profile was introduced with her father, Solomon. (see next)

Does anyone know the correct spelling of the last name- Beasley or Beesley?

Beasley-370 and Beesley-148 appear to represent the same person because: Missed this duplicate due to the use of the Beesley spelling when I created the profile. This merger will include your Vienna profile in with parents. Father, Solomon Beesley had a sister Vienna.

Beasley-1336 and Beasley-370 appear to represent the same person because: I believe the death date would be the 1795.
