Biography

William Somerset (d.v.p; s.p), was the eldest son of Edward Somerset, 4th Earl of Worcester, and his wife, Lady Elizabeth Hastings, and was born about 1575-76 in county Hereford. He was known as Lord Herbert from 1589 , once his father succeeded as the 4th Earl.

He matriculated at Magdalene College, Oxford 27 June 1591, aged 15 and was possibly knighted by the Earl of Essex at Cadiz 27 June 1596. He died unmarried[1] shortly before 21 January 1597/98.
