Biography

Henry Bernard Beck and Bertha Brenner are the parents of Joseph H. Beck, who married Leona Talley. According to the Beck Tree, compiled by Sr. Helen Marie Beck and updated as of 1/1/1990:

"Joseph Henry Beck and Leona Talley are the parents of one child.

"Leona was baptized a Catholic 1/25/1955.

"Joseph learned the watchmaker trade. For 5 years he worked at W.P.A.F.B. Instrument Section, Watch Division. For 13 years, he was in business for himself, repairing watches. Then for 17 years, he worked for Aman Company - Jewelers - repairing watches.

"When working for Aman Company, Joseph encountered a robbery. He and another salesman were ordered into a lavatory, at the point of a gun, and told to remain there for a certain length of time. In the meantime, the robbers escaped and were never found.

"Joseph was very ill during his first summer and mother was afraid that he would not live. He did recover and was a very healthy child thereafter. Mother said his recovery was miraculous.

"Joseph and Leona own their own home at 4737 Joyce Ave., Dayton, OH 45439.

"On july 13, 1990, Joseph underwent surgery for the replacement of an entire knee. He did well and in 6 weeks he was released from Miami Valley Hospital.^[1]

Sr. Helen gave on date for the death of Joseph Henry Beck on page 3 - 12/3/1933. However, Jack Hilbing provided a listing on 8/5/2014, which states that Joseph Henry Beck died on 11/24/2004. I am accepting Jck Hilbing's date as it is congruent with the dates of Joseph Henry Beck sibling's deaths.
