Biography

John was born in 1826 in Rebersburg, Miles Twp., Centre, PA. He was the son of Benjamin Beck and Mary B. (Poorman) Beck.

"For many years he lived near Luthersburg, Pennsylvania, but in Feb. 1880 was burned out there, and lost everything. In 1883 he had a scroll and stair work factory in Lock Haven. with his brother Jacob as partner. In 1889 he suffered in the June flood at Newport on the Juniata, and later moved to Duncannon, where I called on one of his sons in 1949."[1]

John died at the age of about 76 in October 1902 at 75-76.
