Alexander Beck was born in June 19, 1865 in New Orleans, Orleans, Louisiana. He was the son of Christian Beck and Margareta Hess. [1] [2]
The 1870 Federal Census listed Alexander as living with his parents Christian and Margareta, his step-sisters Sophia (Maria) Beck, Josephine Unknown and Mary (Julia) Beck, his sister Theresa Beck, his step-brother Christian Beck, II and his brother Albert J. Beck in New Orleans, Orleans, Louisiana. [3]
Alexander's father Christian passed away on September 15, 1873 in New Orleans, Orleans, Louisiana. At the time of his death, he left four minor children from his marriage with Margaret; Joseph Albert Beck age about 11 years, Alexander Beck age about 9 years, Theresa Beck age about 7 years and John J. Beck age about 3 years. He also left five children from his first marriage with Sabina (Sophia) Hermann; Catharina (Sophia) Beck of age, Sophia (Maria) Beck of age, and Christian Beck, II, Louisa Beck and Mary (Julia) Beck, minors. [4]
The 1880 Federal Census listed Alexander as living with his mother Margareta, his step-sister Josephine and his sister Theresa and his brothers Albert and John J. at 511 Old Camp Street in New Orleans, Orleans, Louisiana. Alexander was employed as an apprentice saddler. [5]
Alexander Beck married Anna Emilia "Amelia" Winchell on November 10, 1887 in New Orleans, Orleans, Louisiana. [6]
The 1890 New Orleans City Directory listed Alexander as an upholsterer and living at 245 Josephine in New Orleans, Orleans, Louisiana. [7]
The 1892 New Orleans City Directory listed Alexander as a laborer and living at 245 Josephine in New Orleans, Orleans, Louisiana. [8]
The 1895 New Orleans City Directory listed Alexander as a laborer and living at old 292 Melpomene in New Orleans, Orleans, Louisiana.[9]
The 1900 Federal Census listed Alexander as living with his wife Amelia and his daughters Cecelia Theresa, Marguerite Viola and Hazel at 3311 Chippewa Street in New Orleans, Orleans, Louisiana. Alexander was employed as a carpet layer. [10]
The 1900 New Orleans City Directory listed Alexander as a clerk and living at 1915 Constance in New Orleans, Orleans, Louisiana. [11]
The 1905 New Orleans City Directory listed Alexander as a laborer and living at 1825 Camp in New Orleans, Orleans, Louisiana. [12]
Alexander passed away on October 9, 1906 in New Orleans, Orleans, Louisiana at age 41. [13]
