David was born in 1843 in the townland of Drumhirk, near Newtownards, Co Down. The son of James Beck, a labourer, and his wife Margaret Warden. He passed away in 1912. Late of Robinson Bros., iron founders, father of Margaret, Mrs. W. H. Watkins, Albert Park, W. J. Beck (Ascotvale), D. W. Beck (Richmond), and J. H. Beck, of Johannesburg.[1]
