Anton Beck married Caroline Johanna Lux (1821-1875), dtr of Joseph Lux and Theresia Hample from Grochau, Silesia on 05/08/1843.[1]
Anton was referred to as a "Gärtner".[2] The term "Gärtner" is as much about Anton's social class (which determined his legal rights within the community) as his profession. "Gärtner today means only gardener, but until the early 20th century the main meaning was "farmer with a very little land". A gardener did not have his share of the common land, the Allmende [a shared pasture where he might graze cattle]; he owned only a little land, often fenced, on which he cultivated vegetables and fruits, but normally no grain." Likely, he worked somewhere else to earn his living.
He and Caroline had 1 child. Anton passed away on 11/15/1846.
