Major John Beck was born on May 31, 1899 in Clayton, Rabun, Georgia, United States, son of Samuel Beck (1857–1916) and Arah A. Powell (1859–1929).[1]

In 1900, Major (1) was in the household of Samuel Brok. [2] [3]

In 1910, Major (11) was in the household of Avah Beck in Oconalufty, Swain. [4]

Major registered for the draft for World War I. [5], [6]

In 1920, Major John (21) B was in the household of Ara A Beck. [7]

His daughter was Edith Frances Canty (1924–2010).

In 1930, Major (31) was living in Chattooga. [8]

In 1940, Major (41) was living in Catawba Township, York. [9]

Major died on July 29, 1986 in Rock Hill, York, aged 87. He was buried in Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Sts Cemetery, Catawba, York County, South Carolina.[10] [11] [1] [12]
