Thomas Bedingfield (d. 1590) m. Frances Jerningham, co-heiress of John Jerningham of Somerleyton, Suffolk. They had two sons Henry and William. He d. 3 Apr1590[1] and his wife married her cousin Sir Henry Jerningham of Cossey.
Research Notes
A marriage date of 9 Oct 1588 doesn't make a lot of sense. The History of Parliament has his son and heir Henry's birth date as 21 May 1586, so he was 4 not 9 when his father died (technically 3 years 10 months and 18 days)[1]
His son Henry was 9 years old when Thomas died. He was the heir and the Crown had custodial rights over him, Queen Elizabeth I and the Privy Council. Sir Jerningham, his stepfather handled his inheritance, but it was overseen by the Court because he was a ward of the Court. It is in the Royal documents and the letters and private papers of the Bedingfelds. [2] (Note I am still trying to find it again in 'Your Majesty's Papers and Stationary'. I am going to try to find the inquest).
