Biography

According to the data on his tombstone, Noah Beebe, was born in 1729, and he died 03 MAR 1815 at Lyme, New London, Connecticut, United States.

Prior to Oct 2018, Noah Beebe had been associated as a son of Ebenezer and Mary Miller. However, Noah Beebe's asserted, but unsourced, 1725 date of birth precedes the known 5 Jul 1726 marriage date of Ebenezer and Mary Miller and the asserted and likewise unsourced parental association for Noah. On 26 Nov 2019, this 1725 date of birth was revised to 1729, based on the data engraved on his tombstone. Thus, while it is possible that Noah may be the son of Ebenezer and Mary Beebe, as of Oct 2018, no primary nor reliable secondary source documentation has been found to substantiate this assertion. Furthermore, both the Clarence Beebe and Clifford Beebe Genealogies affirm Ebenezer and Mary to be the parents of a list of siblings, which excludes Noah. Hence in the absence of reliable supporting documentation, Noah Beebe has been disassociated as a child of Ebenezer and Mary Beebe. It may be possible that Noah was a descendant of Samuel Beebe and was born on Long Island, New York; but this assertion, likewise is presently undocumented.

Probate Court Records

  • Primary Source, Connecticut, Wills and Probate Records, 1609-1999 [4]: Data Extract from Noah Beebe Probate case file:
  1. ) Page 475 of 1284. Preserved Beebe, widow of Noah Beebe, declares her intent to remarry to a Mr. Avery. Azariah Beebe acting as administrator of the Noah Beebe Estate, distributes to her equitable property from the estate and Preserved loses the use of the estate property.
  2. ) Page 477 of 1284. Noah Beebe writes his last Will and Testament, signed by Noah Beebe and dated 15th Feb 1810.
    1. ) Item: I give to my dear and loving wife Preserved, use and improvement of one equal half of my real estate and one Cow, agreeably to the Jointure made with her before our marriage.
    2. ) Item: I give to my son Azariah one equal half of my real estate, one half of which is subject to the improvement of my said wife during her natural life or Widowhood. This inheritance is given to Azariah for his use during his natural life until at his decease to be equally divided between the children of his Present wife. but in case he dies without leaving any heirs of his present wife, then it is the will of Noah that Azariah's half of the estate is to be distributed to the Children of Noah's son Noah Beebe Jr. after Azariah's death. {Editorial, there appears to have been a major rift between Noah and Azariah's first wife and the 7 children Azariah had with her. It also suggests that Azariah had married a second wife prior to 15 Feb 1810; that, as of 15 Feb 1810, the marriage was childless; and any children born to Azariah after 15 Feb 1810 were with this second wife.}
    3. ) Item, I give to my loving son Noah Beebe Jr. and his heirs and assigns forever one half of my real estate. The one half of which is subject to the use of the wife of Noah Beebe Sr., Preserved during her life time or widowhood.
    4. ) Item, I give my personal estate to be equally divided between my daughters Lydia and Polly, except any wearing apparel which I give to my son Noah. {Editorial, both Edey and Eunice are absent, inferring that they died early in life, prior to the death of their father}
    5. ) I hereby assign Azariah as the Executor to my last Will and testament.
  3. ) Page 478 of 1284. Mrs Sarah Sill appeared before Just. Nathaniel Matson and made a solemn oath that she was present at the signing of the will and that the document was authentic.

      2. ) #40; Noah Beebe; Value {Assessed} of Estates, Real = $50, Personal =$0; Tax Thereon: $0.08. {Editorial: several items of information can be gleaned from this data source, 1) Noah had a small land holding in Southold, NY, but did not live there (no Personal Property Tax. This suggests he had inherited land in Suffolk County NY, and therefore possibly a descendant of Samuel Beebe. 2) Assuming this was inherited land, then there is a high probability that other Beebe owners of Southold Real Estate are relatives and potential siblings; and this data may suggest who might be the father of Noah.}
