Probate Records

Probate for the Estate of Elizabeth (Rogers) Beebe, wife of Samuel:

  • Primary Source, New York, Wills and Probate Records, 1609-1999 [2] Data extract:
  1. ) Probate of Elizabeth Beebe Estate; Image 202 of 1284: Samuell Beebe Jr. of Plum Island, in the Province of New York and Nathaniel Newbury {Husband of daughter Elizabeth Beebe}, and John Richards of N. London in the Colony of Connecticut appear before before Judge Christopher Christophers Esq. in the New London, Ct., County probate court and sign an administrative bond for the estate of Elizabeth Beebe on 3 May 1728. Samuel Beebe Junior and Nathaniel Newbury are assigned Administrators for the estate of Elizabeth Beebe, wife of Samuel Beebe, deceased late of New London.
  2. ) Probate of Elizabeth Beebe Estate; Image 203 of 1284: Folder Cover Sheet states, Samll Beebee Junr and Nathll Newbury, Adminisftive Bond on ye Estate of their Mothr Elizh Beebee Decd. May 1728---May 3, 1728. {This document is a little curious, Elizabeth (Rogers) Beebe died on 10 Jun 1716, yet the probate for her estate occurs 12 years later and the administrators assigned to her estate are her son and son-in-law, despite the fact that her husband Samuel Beebe, who didn't die until June 1741,is still living. Most likely she received a posthumous inheritance as the result of the death of a relative from the Rogers clan, hence her heirs would be her children. It wasn't her father who died in 1687, who died in 1728 to leave her a posthumous estate? }
