Biography

Sarah Belcher was reportedly born in about 1716 and reportedly died in about 1799.[citation needed]

Disputed Spouse

A prior version of this profile claimed that Sarah Belcher was the wife of Daniel Blevins. The only source cited for this claim was The Longhunters, a self-published book by Leslie Blevins which itself cites no source for the claim.[1] A 1771 power of attorney described in Daniel's profile confirms that his wife was named Sarah, but her last name at birth is unknown.

Please do not reattach her as the spouse of Daniel Blevins without first posting a comment for discussion on his profile and citing a reliable source for the claim.

Disputed Children

The following children, previously identified without any reliable source as the children of Daniel Blevins and Sarah Belcher, are disputed for the reasons noted below:

Please do not reattach any of these children without first posting a comment for discussion on this profile and citing a reliable source for the claim.

What is the evidence that Sarah Belcher (Belcher-693) married Daniel Blevins (1714-aft.1797)? I don't see any source for this claim other than Leslie Blevins book, which does not cite any source for it. The comments indicate that it is clearly disputed by some members. Should the relationship be removed?

Profile manager needs to provide evidence that the wife of Daniel Blevins (last documented in Grayson VA in 1797, and my ancestor per DNA results) was Sarah Belcher. The only Blevins-Belcher marriage I am aware of is that of Linkhorn Blevins to Sarah Belcher.

The post was to explain some for the merge of Belcher-729 and Belcher-693 ;) Belcher-729 indeed had a wrong date (typo 1769 instead of 1729) that probably caused the merge was rejected earlier (in August). So all is fine again now for this family I think ?

I'm not sure how to explain this but there is apparently an error somewhere. Go to this website and let me know your conclusions,

For now I will assume Sarah Belcher's birth was most likely abt. 1716 as her husbands birth was ca. 1714 and I consider that to be proven by other known dates pertaining to this family.

Hi,

Belcher-729 and Belcher-693 Sarah Belcher who was born ca 1769...the 1769 date appeared to be just a typo ..

A couple of posts below it said:

Sarah Belcher (Collins) Birth: 1690 Newport, Colony of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations

Immediate Family:

Daughter of Arnold Collins and Sarah Collins Wife of Benjamin Belcher Mother of Arnold Belcher and Sarah (Belcher) Blevins Half sister of Sarah Bliss Added by: Cara Richert on July 5, 2010

Only problem is, her father probably was a different one, because Benjamin Belcher died before her supposed Birthyear 1729, so perhaps she was born earlier, her father according the genealogy added at his profile and here died April 19, 1716 ..

Greets from the Netherlands and hope it helps, also cleaned up after merge some of them,

Bea :)

Belcher-2277 and Belcher-729 appear to represent the same person because: same birth and source

Belcher-2350 and Belcher-729 appear to represent the same person because: same birth and death, same husband

There were no doubt several Sarah Belchers as Sarah was a very common given name and the Belcher line was numerous. This particular Sarah Belcher was bearing children of Daniel Blevins #2 from the early 1750s to the late 1770s.

Belcher-729 and Belcher-693 do not represent the same person because: Sarah Belcher who married Daniel Blevins was having his children between 1750 and 1770 therefore she could not be the Sarah Belcher who was born ca 1769.

Belcher-2243 and Belcher-2135 appear to represent the same person because: accidental duplicate
