Henry Pybus Bell-Irving was born in Vancouver, British Columbia on January 21, 1913. He was the son of Henry Beattie Bell-Irving and Anne Hilda Pybus.
At the time of the 1921 Canada Census, Henry Beattie, Ann Hilda, Henry Pybus, Ruth, Mary Marbean, Wendy, and Roderick Keith Faulkner Bell-Irving were listed as living at 1913 Haro Street in Vancouver, along with two servants[1].
Henry married Nancy Symes in Vancouver on April 8, 1937.[2][3]
Henry served as the Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia from 1978 to 1983. During his term in office, he travelled extensively throughout the province, visiting a number of small communities which had never before been visited by a serving Lieutenant Governor.
Henry was awarded the Order of British Columbia in 1990[4].
He passed away at the Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver, British Columbia on 21 Sep 2002.[5]
