Stella Mae McLamb Little River

Stella Mae McLamb, age 97, died Monday, September 24, 2012 at her residence. Mrs. McLamb was born February 22, 1915 in Little River, SC., a daughter of the late Lorenzo Dow and Olivia Bellamy. She was the widow of Ellis Layton McLamb. A devoted and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother she was predeceased by her daughter, Pollie O. Moseley, two sisters, Mary Platt and Evelyn Long, three brothers, Howard Bellamy, Otis Bellamy and Roscoe Bellamy; and a close friend of loyal service, Julene Gause. She was a member of North Myrtle Beach First Baptist Church for sixty one years, serving as a choir member for forty years. In 1937 she and her family moved to Charleston, SC where they lived until 1948 until returning to Little River. She began operating Stella's Guest Home in 1973 and continued to receive guests for approximately thirty years. Her home was listed in Southern Living Magazine as one of the most hospitable stops along the east coast and her breakfast buffet, which she served for approximately ten years, was a do not miss treat for all her guests and friends. All who visited Stella's were fascinated by her collection of antiques and her décor. Survivors include two sons, Thurmon W. McLamb and his wife Diane, of Little River, Kenny E. McLamb and his wife Pam, of Little River, one daughter, Rita J. McLamb, of Little River, six grandchildren, Angela Bird, Sabrina McLamb, Ashley McLamb, Kimberly McLamb, Robbie Moseley and Ben Moseley; six great grandchildren, Wiley Smith, Taylor Smith, Stacie McLamb, Lauren McLamb, Cayman Moseley and Atticus Moseley; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday at the First Baptist Church of North Myrtle Beach with Rev. John Gambrell, Rev. Mike Vipperman and Dr. Harold Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at McLamb Cemetery, in Little River. The family will receive friends form 6-8 PM Tuesday at the First Baptist Church of North Myrtle Beach.
