Humphrey was born about 1772 in Cornwall, England. He was the son of Humphrey Ballamy and Grace Mark.
Humphery Ballamy, bachelor of Jacobstow, married Grace Hicks, spinster of St Gennys, by banns on September 18, 1800 in St Gennys, Cornwall, England.[1] The witnesses were Thomas Hicks and William Bray.[2]
They were the parents of 11 children, all born in Jacobstow, Cornwall.
Humphrey was mentioned in his father’s Will of 1816:
I give to my son Humphrey Ballamy my estate at Penhallein called Unckings which he is to have to his own use immediately after my decease, I also give to my son Humphry Ballamy my Estate called Birkallieon and the Meadows paying yearly every year after the death of my son in law Thomas Pearce to my daughter Margaret the sum of forty shillings as long as she lives[3]
He is buried in the Old Honesdale Cemetery, in Wayne county, Pennsylvania.[5]
He and his wife were mentioned in their daughter Mary’s obituary of 1902 Humphrey and Grace (Hicks) Bellamy[6] The entire family had emigrated to Pennsylvania.
